第1章
神的创造123
1起初，　神创造天地。 2地是空虚混沌，渊面黑暗；　神的灵运行在水面上。
3神说：「要有光」，就有了光。 4神看光是好的，就把光暗分开了。 5神称光为「昼」，称暗为「夜」。有晚上，有早晨，这是头一日。
6神说：「诸水之间要有空气，将水分为上下。」 7神就造出空气，将空气以下的水、空气以上的水分开了。事就这样成了。 8神称空气为「天」。有晚上，有早晨，是第二日。
9神说：「天下的水要聚在一处，使旱地露出来。」事就这样成了。 10神称旱地为「地」，称水的聚处为「海」。　神看着是好的。
11神说：「地要发生青草和结种子的菜蔬，并结果子的树木，各从其类，果子都包着核。」事就这样成了。 12于是地发生了青草和结种子的菜蔬，各从其类；并结果子的树木，各从其类；果子都包着核。　神看着是好的。 13有晚上，有早晨，是第三日。
14神说：「天上要有光体，可以分昼夜，作记号，定节令、日子、年岁， 15并要发光在天空，普照在地上。」事就这样成了。 16于是　神造了两个大光，大的管昼，小的管夜，又造众星， 17就把这些光摆列在天空，普照在地上， 18管理昼夜，分别明暗。　神看着是好的。 19有晚上，有早晨，是第四日。
20神说：「水要多多滋生有生命的物；要有雀鸟飞在地面以上，天空之中。」 21神就造出大鱼和水中所滋生各样有生命的动物，各从其类；又造出各样飞鸟，各从其类。　神看着是好的。 22神就赐福给这一切，说：「滋生繁多，充满海中的水；雀鸟也要多生在地上。」 23有晚上，有早晨，是第五日。 24神说：「地要生出活物来，各从其类；牲畜、昆虫、野兽，各从其类。」事就这样成了。 25于是　神造出野兽，各从其类；牲畜，各从其类；地上一切昆虫，各从其类。　神看着是好的。 26神说：「我们要照着我们的形象、按着我们的样式造人，使他们管理海里的鱼、空中的鸟、地上的牲畜，和全地，并地上所爬的一切昆虫。」 27神就照着自己的形象造人，乃是照着他的形象造男造女。 28神就赐福给他们，又对他们说：「要生养众多，遍满地面，治理这地，也要管理海里的鱼、空中的鸟，和地上各样行动的活物。」 29神说：「看哪，我将遍地上一切结种子的菜蔬和一切树上所结有核的果子全赐给你们作食物。 30至于地上的走兽和空中的飞鸟，并各样爬在地上有生命的物，我将青草赐给它们作食物。」事就这样成了。 31神看着一切所造的都甚好。有晚上，有早晨，是第六日。

In the Beginning
1In the beginning God created heavens and earth. 2Now the earth wasOr possibly became formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. 3And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. 4God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. 5God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day. 6And God said, “Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water.” 7So God made the vault and separated the water under the vault from the water above it. And it was so. 8God called the vault “sky.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the second day. 9And God said, “Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear.” And it was so. 10God called the dry ground “land,” and the gathered waters he called “seas.” And God saw that it was good. 11Then God said, “Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.” And it was so. 12The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. 13And there was evening, and there was morning—the third day. 14And God said, “Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years, 15and let them be lights in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth.” And it was so. 16God made two great lights—the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars. 17God set them in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth, 18to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19And there was evening, and there was morning—the fourth day. 20And God said, “Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the vault of the sky.” 21So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living thing with which the water teems and that moves about in it, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 22God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth.” 23And there was evening, and there was morning—the fifth day. 24And God said, “Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: the livestock, the creatures that move along the ground, and the wild animals, each according to its kind.” And it was so. 25God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. 26Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” 27So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. 28God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.” 29Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. 30And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food.” And it was so. 31God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day.

[niv]26Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
